Growing the Next Generation of Agriculture
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Everything we eat, use or wear every day is provided by agriculture. Learn more about the importance of agriculture in our world today at Discovery Park’s Discovery Ag Day celebration on Tuesday, Feb. 24.
Ag Discovery Day will feature greenhouse lessons and a wide range of community agriculture vendors representing higher education, conservation, food systems and local producers. The event is structured to serve younger students in the morning and older students in the afternoon, allowing lessons to align with developmental levels and science standards.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
Greenhouse Lessons Highlight Real-World Science
We’re excited for another year of interactive activities in our Farm Credit Mid-America Greenhouses.
“All About Plants: From Roots to Leaves.”
This hands-on experience introduces young learners to how plants grow, what they need to survive, and why greenhouses are important. Students will explore real plants—from familiar favorites to unique varieties—learn about plant parts and their functions, and conclude the lesson by drawing and labeling a plant or planting one of their own.
“Earth’s Natural Blanket: The Greenhouse Effect.”
This interactive lesson explores how greenhouses—and Earth itself—trap heat to support life. Through discussion, real-world examples, and a simple hands-on demonstration, students investigate how sunlight and heat move, why greenhouses stay warm, and how agricultural technology supports year-round plant growth.
Community Agriculture Partners
Throughout the day, students will engage with agriculture-focused community organizations and vendors, including:[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
