Led by master folk artist TJ Southard of Fresh Sawdust\, this hands-on class teaches practical skills\, creativity and confidence using basic hand tools in a safe and supportive environment. \nStudents will learn foundational woodworking skills such as measuring\, cutting\, smoothing and joining wood\, along with proper tool safety and the use of hand tools like hammers\, hand saws and hand planes. Each child will complete a quality project to take home. \nYou will discover: \n\n\nBasic woodworking skills including measuring\, cutting and smoothing wood \n\n\nSafe use of traditional hand tools \n\n\nTechniques for joining and shaping wood \n\n\nThe craftsmanship behind handmade wooden projects \n\n\nProjects may include a birdhouse\, desktop flag stand or pencil holder. \nAbout the Instructor \nTJ Southard is the owner of Fresh Sawdust and a two-time Missouri Folk Art Master Artist.
