During a ferocious battle\, the sight of a gigantic American flag flying over Fort McHenry inspired a poem which became our national anthem. Forever after\, the flag and the anthem would be known by the same name — the Star-Spangled Banner. This interactive program gives students and families the opportunity to learn about prehistoric life while creating their own take-home fossil keepsakes.  \nParticipants will create their own dinosaur bones before joining a lesson focused on how paleontologists study and identify bones and fossils. After the lesson\, guests will head to the dig pit to excavate fossils and uncover hidden discoveries. Each participant will also take home a piece of Coon Creek as a special reminder of the experience.  \nYou will discover: \n\nHow paleontologists identify dinosaur bones and fossils\nHands-on fossil excavation techniques in the dig pit\nHow to create and preserve your own dinosaur bone craft\nOpportunities to win a $10 Discovery Park coupon during each lesson \n\nLessons and activities will begin in the Reelfoot Room at the following times: \n\n12:30 p.m.\n2 p.m.\n3:30 p.m. \n\nDuring each lesson\, one $10 Discovery Park coupon will be hidden in the dig pit for participants to find. DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the First Annual Reelfoot Lake Ultimate Crappie Challenge. It takes place in the world-class crappie fishery of a Bill Dance Signature Lake\, Reelfoot Lake in Samburg\, Tennessee. \n\n\n\n\nThis 18\,000 acre lake\, located in the upper northwest corner\, is the largest natural lake in the state\, formed by an earthquake in 1811-1812 that caused the Mississippi River to flow backward into a shallow basin. Reelfoot is famous for its bluegill and crappie\, which rank among the best in the state. \n\n\n\n\nHours on both days will be announced at the mandatory registration meeting.
